George D.B. Butterfield

Dr. George D. B. Butterfield, O.C., B.A., LL.D (Hon.)

George is an entrepreneur, community leader, and a world traveler.

His personal and professional life have been dedicated to the intersections between art, culture, environmental sustainability, business development, and leadership. Galleries, museums, artists, literary programs, educational institutions, and especially human rights and environmental organizations are all benefactors of his time, creativity, hard work and financial support.

In 1966 George co-founded Butterfield & Robinson (B&R) with his wife Martha and brother-in-law Sidney Robinson. B&R, an industry leader in the travel world, has grown larger than the sum of its parts and has become the hallmark of excellence and creativity around the world.

In 2006, George was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada for his contribution to Canadian business and philanthropy.

Both he and his wife Martha are major contributors to the 3% Project.
