About Finance Engage Sustain (FES)
Finance Engage Sustain (FES), is a youth-led and youth-serving sustainable development organization and Canadian registered charity. As the final generation that can solve climate change, FES empowers young Canadians to create a more inclusive, fair, prosperous, and sustainable future. FES’ intended impact is to see to it that by 2030, Canada is implementing adaptation and mitigation strategies compatible with a climate-resilient future, through the influence and action of young leaders. To do so, FES deploys three programs:
The Youth Harbour. A youth-for-youth climate support system that provides financial and technical support for youth-led organizations and youth organizers. Mainly, FES pools philanthropic funds, redistributes funds to youth, and provides fiscal sponsorship and administrative support. In addition, FES offers various other support services to youth leaders such as branding support, co-working spaces, and coaching.
NOW for Net-Zero. An educational program that provides youth and educators with the necessary tools, connections, and resources to implement net-zero-related activities in their local communities.
Position And Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing The Youth Harbour’s core projects and initiatives, outside of grants management. Namely, the Projects & Impact Manager will oversee the Climate Collab Centres, the Amplify program, the mentorship program, and the Support Ecosystem. In addition, the successful candidate will oversee and coordinate impact measurement and reporting at FES, to assist with the annual report, fundraising, and communications. This position will play a major role on external content development and communications, such as resource development and social media communications.
The Projects & Impact Manager will work with both internal staff at FES and the Youth Harbour, as well as grantees, stakeholders, and other beneficiaries and partners relevant to each project, ensuring the efficiency of each projects’ coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Support:
Assist the Executive Director with fundraising and fund development activities.
Research and identify new funding and grant opportunities for The Youth Harbour and FES, and when relevant, share opportunities with grantees.
Support the development of grant proposals, pitch decks, and funding collateral materials.
Contribute to the preparation and submission of interim and final narrative reports to funders, gathering impact measurements, testimonials, and data when needed.
Assist the Executive Director and Creative Director with donor and communications strategy.
Climate Collab Centres:
Project Coordination
Manage day-to-day operations, participant onboarding, partner communications, and milestone tracking.
Streamline and improve programmatic resources and systems to enhance effi ciency and impact.
Track program activities, outputs, and outcomes, maintaining organized records to support evaluation, reporting, and storytelling.
Develop and manage other Climate Collab Centre locations that may arise.
Participant Management
Oversee Climate ShareSpace Toronto, acting as the primary point of contact for participants.
Maintain a clear onboarding process for new participants, ensuring they understand the purpose, expectations, and benefi ts of the ShareSpace.
Work with Climate Collab Centre partners to plan and host low-touch, budget friendly events/ activities that foster learning, community, and resource sharing among participants.
Track participation, collect feedback, and recommend improvements to enhance the experience and value of the Climate Collab Centres
Grant Management Support:
Assist with the review and selection of applications for Access, Assembly, and Action grants.
Work directly with grantees and the wider Youth Harbour network to understand their goals, challenges, and resource requirements, for the Access, Assembly, and Action grants.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to grantees and the network through creation and development of resources, workshops, guides and templates for grantees, as part of the Support Ecosystem.
Collect and analyze data to inform grantee resources and impact reporting.
Partnerships:
Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing partners, through regular communication and alignment on shared goals.
Identify and cultivate new partnerships to enhance the capacity and impact of The Youth Harbour.
Connect and liaise with partners and potential supporters, matching them with youth leaders where relevant.
Resource Development & Coordination:
Research, curate, and develop resources (guides, toolkits, templates, etc.) to support grantees and youth organizers, based on feedback and analysis of youth needs from reporting. Including direct development of resources, as well as collaborating with team members or external partners and contractors for planned resource development and workshop deliveries.
Create materials to communicate The Youth Harbour and FES’ activities, including one-pagers, slide decks, digital content, and information sessions.
Assist in streamlining and improving programmatic resources and systems for greater accessibility and impact.
General:
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Grants & Program Manager to support team needs.
Support with other Youth Harbour projects and/or events that come up, as assigned.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications*:
A post-secondary graduate.
Between the ages of 18 to 30 at the start of the job placement.
Experience (2-3 years) with program coordination and support.
Exceptional skills in leadership, time management, and partnership relations.
Other Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline, including but not limited to education, environmental sciences, engineering, and communications. Upper-year undergraduate and master’s students seeking a full-time position are also eligible.
Experience working with Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour communities and stakeholders.
Interest in the funding and granting sector of Canada, and/or the Youth Climate sector.
1-2 years experience in an administrative role with project management (this can be satisfied through work, internship/co-op, volunteer, and extracurricular activities).
Demonstrated interest in relevant domains (ie. sustainability, education, youth engagement and action) is considered an asset.
Proficient with using word processing, database and spreadsheet software (most notably Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs and Excel).
Experience working with Slack and Monday.com, highly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Eager to be in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high learning curve.
A self-starter able to take initiative on responsibilities with minimal supervision; proven ability to work independently.
Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrating a positive attitude to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues in a virtual environment.
Ability to speak, write, and communicate in French is a strong asset.
