FES places decision‑making power directly in the hands of young people. Our program decisions are made in collaboration with young folks who represent the values, needs, challenges, and values of those we serve.

Granting decisions are made by FES staff and committees, composed of 100% youth (30 or under), representing diverse communities across Canada. Young people have reviewed over 500 applications to date.

Program participants report improvements in essential skills such as budgeting, communication, project management, and partnership-building, attributes which employers and communities need. The skills that young people learn through their involvement with FES extend beyond the time they spend in our programs. These skills are transferable, life-long assets that they will carry with them throughout their careers as leaders.

All across Canada, dollars reach Indigenous, rural, newcomer, francophone, and urban youth. Through over a decade of working with youth, FES has developed an extensive network of community partners and relationships built on trust and reciprocity.
