About Finance Engage Sustain (FES)
Finance Engage Sustain (FES), is a youth-led and youth-serving sustainable development organization and Canadian registered charity. As the final generation that can solve climate change, FES empowers young Canadians to create a more inclusive, fair, prosperous, and sustainable future. FES’ intended impact is to see to it that by 2030, Canada is implementing adaptation and mitigation strategies compatible with a climate-resilient future, through the influence and action of young leaders. To do so, FES deploys three programs:
The Youth Harbour. A youth-for-youth climate support system that provides financial and technical support for youth-led organizations and youth organizers. Mainly, FES pools philanthropic funds, redistributes funds to youth, and provides fiscal sponsorship and administrative support. In addition, FES offers various other support services to youth leaders such as branding support, co-working spaces, and coaching.
NOW for Net-Zero. An educational program that provides youth and educators with the necessary tools, connections, and resources to implement net-zero-related activities in their local communities.
Position And Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting FES’ The Youth Harbour program. Reporting directly to the Program & Grants Manager, the Grants Coordinator will primarily be responsible for leading the coordination and creation of the resources available for applicants and grantees, and maintaining grants administration throughout. The Grants Coordinator will perform research, outreach, and content development, while also handling some administrative tasks as necessary. The main tasks of this role include outreach to participants, researching and gathering resources for the network, document and material development, and being a point of contact for grantees. The Grants Coordinator has a unique opportunity to be in a position to respond directly to the needs of youth in this sector.
The Resource Coordinator will work directly with the Program & Grants Manager and the Projects & Impact Manager to assess the needs of youth within The Youth Harbour program and align material development and resource support with program objectives. They will respond to the guidance and direction provided by The Youth Harbour managerial team to ensure cohesive program execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Grants Coordination:
Work directly with grantees and the wider Youth Harbour network to understand their goals, challenges, and resource requirements
Provide support and guidance to grantees and the network throughout project life cycles.
Ensuring organization and project management across all grant streams
Manage updates and reports from grantees, including assisting in developing impact reporting and feedback systems for the various granting streams.
Managing applications for Access and Assembly grants using digital systems.
Resource Coordination:
Conduct research to inform and develop relevant material for grantees.
Create guides, toolkits, and research documents to support grantee success.
Work closely with The Youth Harbour team to develop resources for youth organizers, including but not limited to: HR policies, finance templates, legal frameworks, communications support, etc.
Develop material to explain the activities of The Youth Harbour and the opportunities available to youth, such as one-pagers, developing slide decks and information sessions, website and social media content, etc.
Be responsive to the resource needs of grantees, addressing their requirements in a timely and effective manner.
Reporting and Direction:
Assist in outreach to new communities across Canada who will become new beneficiaries of The Youth Harbour program, specifically in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities across Canada.
Assist The Youth Harbour staff with research and development of materials for The Youth Harbour network, and strategic writing.
Research and Outreach:
Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing partners, through regular communication and alignment on shared goals.
Identify and cultivate new partnerships to enhance the capacity and impact of The Youth Harbour.
Connect and liaise with partners and potential supporters, matching them with youth leaders where relevant.
Other administrative duties and operations support as they arise.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications*:
A post-secondary graduate.
Between the ages of 18 to 30 at the start of the job placement.
Experience (1-3 years) with program coordination and support.
Skills in leadership, time management, project planning, and partnership relations.
Other Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline, including but not limited to education, environmental sciences, engineering, and communications. Upper-year undergraduate and master’s students seeking a full-time position are also eligible.
Experience working with Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour communities and stakeholders.
Interest in the funding and granting sector of Canada, and/or the Youth Climate sector.
Minimum 1 year of experience in an administrative role with project management (this can be satisfied through work, internship/co-op, volunteer, and extracurricular activities).
Demonstrated interest in relevant domains (ie. sustainability, education, youth engagement and action) is considered an asset.
Proficient with using word processing, database and spreadsheet software (most notably Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs and Excel).
Experience working with Slack and Monday.com, highly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Eager to be in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high learning curve.
A self-starter able to take initiative on responsibilities with minimal supervision; proven ability to work independently.
Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrating a positive attitude to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues in a virtual environment.
Ability to speak, write, and communicate in French is a strong asset.
